I created this series of Bob Marley Paperweights by first creating strands of colored cane, then layering those into a circular mold. This is a long and tedious process that recreated Marley’s iconic image in glass. The colored pattern is then heated up and stretched out, carefully keeping the design from distorting. This is then cut into smaller pieces and reheated to be picked up and surrounded by layers of clear glass.
The paperweight is then cut and polished on both sides, so that it can be displayed on either side. Each paperweight and each side has a unique look due to the properties of heat and the manipulation of the glass.
This paperweight features Bob Marley’s face surrounded by millefiore hearts.
